Server Maintenance Feb 9th, 2019

As previously announced, we will be performing some server maintenance this coming Saturday, February 9, 2019. Downtime will begin sometime in the early hours of morning (probably around midnight EST) and the game will be down for 12 – 15 hours total. Once the game comes back online, you should expect about 48 hours of data caching.  Which means the data will be catching up so there may be some strange occurrences. While we hope these will be limited, we do want to make sure that you guys are aware that they are expected and WILL get better as certain data catches up.

Fixes, Rebuild and Something New!

Quick update, and then a couple of announcements!

We have the back-end of the Valor App complete (the hard part) and the front-end is being rewritten in Unity (which allows us to launch on iOS and Android simultaneously with a single app). We ran into some issues with the way the map infinitely scrolls in Unity, but we have fixed that issue and we are testing it as I type. Hang in there, we are in the home stretch and there is light at the end of this tunnel!

That leads into the first of our two announcements:

  1. We will be creating a new title/badge for those of you who stick it out with us until the relaunch. This will be a title/badge no returning veteran or NEW player could ever get. More details coming soon.
  2. A few players in the community have been working on a really exciting companion app to Valor that Quark has decided to publish. The app is called the VCA, or Valor Companion App. See below for some teaser shots.
    1. We will have a beta of this app soon and need your help to test. If you are interested, message Beemer about ways you can help test it.

FINALLY! Something NEW!

NEW! Nerd Farming Fix! After months of testing, we are finally ready to reveal a true Nerd Farming fix! When a player has more nerds than she should be able to educate (negative nerds) based on the number of scholarships she has purchased, the player’s nerds will lose their effectiveness by way of a loyalty reduction. The player still will be able to educate and use her nerds, but the more negative she becomes, the more useless the nerds become. If the player becomes too negative, her nerds will cease to affect loyalty making the nerds useless. While nerd farming is technically still possible, a player can go as negative as they want, the usefulness of that endeavor is entirely removed from the game. If a player captures a nerd from an enemy, making her negative, the loyalty reduction will be negligible. This ensures that only players who abuse the negative nerd exploit to nerd farm will be punished by way of the loyalty reduction.

NEW! Premium Item! For the first time since Premium Scholarship Valor has a new item in the store, Shield. With Shield, players can now shield themselves from new incoming attacks for eight hours with only a twelve-hour cooldown. Shield acts the same way as truce while being cheaper with a shorter duration and cooldown. One of the biggest complaints we get on a regular basis is how frustrating it is to wake up to incoming attacks or having lost a city, or even worse having been reset. With Shield, you can now protect yourself while you, while on a plane, or while at work without having to wait 24 hours to renew that protection.


  • Cost: 25 gold
  • Duration: 8 hours
  • Cooldown: 12 hours
  • Description: Activate a shield, and all troop commanders, including your own, cannot issue any new troop movements to and from your cities for 8 hours. You can enable with incoming attacks or support; these existing troop movements will be completed. However, no one will be able to attack or support your cities while the shield is in effect. A badge on the map indicates your status to everyone. Once the shield is over, you must wait 12 hours to be able to activate shield again. Any Barbarian cities you control do not fall under the shield. Troops can move freely to and from those cities as usual.

Shield and Truce share a cooldown. This means if you activate Shield, you will have to wait 12 hours to activate Shield or Truce at the conclusion or cancellation of Shield. If you activate Truce, you must wait 24 hours to activate Truce or Shield at the conclusion or cancellation of Truce.

Reforging Valor™

We’re excited to announce a big breakthrough…and a lot of you have already experienced it. CUSTOM WORLDS are finally in production!

We have been testing various world types over the last few months. With rigorous testing we’ve launched our first new world type “Prison World”. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? It is the first step in bringing back speed worlds and Titan worlds…and other world types never before seen.

I want to personally thank the teams for the work they have done. We finally see a light at the end of a long tunnel. We ask all players to stick with us. We need your help in order to make Valor great again! Your input is invaluable.

You may recall from our last post we had a list of 2018 goals. Here is and update on those.

  • In Q1 we launched a new beta app to test our new admin tools, the completely re-written back end, negative nerd hacks, and general stability fixes.
  • We have rebuilt the game to allow for Android and iOS to be on the same build (Will be a part of patch #1 scheduled for Q4)
  • We continually and actively monitored the game for cheats and exploits
  • With new custom worlds, we can plan for “Speed” and “Titan worlds” to return – and a few other worlds
  • We created a large-always-open world for passive play and later…recruitment
  • Concepted new art for units and screen UI
  • Updated our site to be more user friendly than a forum. We will be communicating more in this blog type format. Along with overall updates, we will have a tech team update, art team update, player showcase and next world announcements.


The “Prison World” was opened up with the idea “if you can think it, you can do it”… a way to bring back some old school tactics that have been banned for some time now.

WHAT HAPPENED?: Chaos immediately ensued when the world opened, for the first time in Valor history players were given the means to war on each other the moment they entered the world. Starting with troops…ha ha – just a taste of the new things to come. In the next few months there will be many more worlds with things never before seen in Valor!

Four distinctive guilds, all with winning reputations, are battling it out for three spots! Hitmen00000 was the first top ranked to be taken out by SleepcapCat and LostSouls, who will be next? Will Goodnight continue to dominate the top of the leaderboard and bring Ghosts to victory? Or can Black Ops or Dawgpound climb to the top and claim the prize? Rest assured chaos will continue as the fight has only just begun.

  • 90% complete on testing the new backend and re-writing new functions
  • Negative Nerd fix has been tested and will roll out to production soon. FIX: If a player goes negative, the effectiveness of their loyalty will be decreased. Details will be announced when the fix is pushed to production
  • Beta build (completely new back-end and front-end) will be ready to test live in Q4
